Focus Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:1. - 8
Hypothetical question: have you ever prepared something? Have you ever thought or pondered the fact that you have been prepared? There is planning and foresight that takes place in our preparation. The late Stephen R. Covey was an author whose observations influenced many businesses in America in the late 1980’s. His best-selling book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, offered some basic truths dipped in the buzzwords of the day. The second “Habit” is “Begin with the end in mind” (which is also, apparently a registered trademark.) I am certain that God began with the end in mind and I am equally certain that He prepared Mr. Covey for his role in God’s creation.
The King James Version of 2 Corinthians 5: 5 reads, “Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.” Have you read our quote from Warren Wiersbe this week? I want you to just ponder what that means. Stop and listen to what the Holy Spirit is and what this says about God’s promises and His love for us.
Even though man sinned, God’s love pursues us, woos us, allows us to make mistakes, but always … ALWAYS … beckons us to repent and equally pursue Him who first loved us. Wow! So, to prepare for our time together on Sunday, prepare. Read the additional scriptures. Listen for the Holy Spirit. God began with the end in mind, let us begin with Him in mind, heart and soul. Let us adopt the attitude of young Samuel, “Speak, your servant is listening.”
PS This will be the final class-related blog for 2016 ... there may be some messages between now and January 8, 2017 when we meet again; so, check in from time to time.
