Focus Scripture: 2 Corinthians 13: 9 – 14
Well, here we are. We started this journey last September and now we are at the end of this part of our journey. This has been a truly powerful experience sharing this time together. That being said, please know that we are not done. This is the close of a letter, the close of a blog series; but, there is work to be done. This is an end, but also a beginning; therefore, Jesus Christ will be in it. He is the “Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.”
Our word this week is “peace”. For me, peace is simply abiding in Christ. When I am not peaceful, I know that I am resisting Christ’s calling. That is when I am compelled to quiet my soul and listen for His still small voice. I hope that this time together in close fellowship has strengthened you. I pray that the Holy Spirit has encouraged and emboldened you and that you will endure and abide joyfully in Him.
As many of you know from class, I am “pausing this” for four months. I am to ‘lead’ the local Men's Walk to Emmaus weekend this fall and need to prepare spiritually and administratively. I am committed to giving God my best and consequently believe that I must focus on that particular calling for a season.
I will hold each of you in prayer and will also join you in prayer. God, through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit has prepared us: that we would serve Him with one heart and one mind. I am excited at the prospect of meeting together the first of each month for a time of centering prayer.
Now, may each of you listen attentively and expectantly to what God is speaking (through His Holy Spirit and His scripture) to you. Trust. Obey. Be joyful. Be humble. Thank you for being God's servants who so richly impact the lives of those around you. May the LORD bless you and keep you …
