Focus Scripture: 2 Corinthians 7: 2. - 16
Last week we talked about how to encourage, but now … now we need to consider: How do we receive encouragement? Do we readily embrace how God may seek to correct you, whether through His Word or through the saints and circumstances He has placed in your life?
For some people, these questions may be difficult. I pray that the Holy Spirit impacts and prepares your life for His glory. You see, I believe that this ability to receive and discern encouragement is evidence of what we believe. What do you believe?
Is God omniscient? Omnipresent? Omnipotent? Did He create you and all that surrounds you?
How about Jesus? Is He the Son of God incarnate who died for your sins? Did He defeat death? Is He resurrected?
The Holy Spirit? How is the Holy Spirit present in your life?
God’s Word? Do you believe all of scripture? Not just some of it, but 100% of God’s Word?
Do you allow yourself to believe that God encounters us every day? Whether through our friends or our “enemies” … do you look for how Christ may use them in your life? Remember the cautionary words of Matthew 25:31 – 46. I encourage you to embrace the charge of Hebrews 13: 1 – 3.
