Each week, the group discussion will center around a word or phrase that is key to the scripture that we are studying. This week's scripture is 2nd Corinthians 1: 1 - 7. No matter what translation you are using, Comfort is a very central part of this scripture. There was a time in my life that I believed that this meant that I would be comfortable. No worries. No pain. Unfortunately, life is not like that.
There is an awful lot of pain in our world today. In fact, there is so much pain in our community that there is an epidemic of Heroin abuse. And this is causing more pain as children are removed from their homes and placed into foster care. How do we respond? Should we respond?
Yes!!! We must respond. This response can take on a lot of different appearances, but there is a common element to our response: Faith. When we employ our faith, we believe. When we believe, God is able to grant us grace and mercy. So, it is my hope that whoever chooses to join us, whether in person or digitally, will find in themselves the faith to comfort those around them - to ease the pain of those they encounter - to forgive any who have "wronged us" - and to be willing to be held accountable.
"May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace." 2 Corinthians 1: 2 NLT.
