Worship is how we, as the Body of Christ, stay connected and are nourished in His presence.
An important part of our worship services comes from the inspiration and leadership of our Music Ministries.
THE CHANCEL CHOIR
Our Chancel Choir leads the musical portion of our worship service on a weekly basis. They practice on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm and there's always an open invitation for anyone to join.
Our Choir Director and Organist is Mary Shields. Mary has served our congregation since 2001 and brings over 25 years of church music experience with her as she leads our choir with enthusiasm and great devotion for Our Lord. She has a wonderfully patient way of bringing out the best in each member of the choir. In addition to these duties, Mary also teaches private piano lessons and is an accomplished seamstress.
Our accompanist is Michele Jurgensen. Michele has been at FUMC for many years and her children, Louis and Marlene, grew up in our church and are now thriving adults in our community. Michele teaches at St. Stephen's School, where her students enjoy learning piano, singing in the choir, and participating in her very popular drumming program. Michele also fills in as a ringer in our handbell choir when the need arises.
THE WESLEYAN HANDBELL CHOIR
The Wesleyan Handbell Choir has a long history of performing for our church worship services as well as special performances in the surrounding communities. This is a dedicated group that is always ready to welcome newcomers! They practice on Tuesday afternoons at 3:00pm in the bell room, located downstairs. Our church is very fortunate to have a complete set of handbells and handchimes, as well as a diverse library of music.
David and Carolyn Brown serve as the dedicated leaders of this group. They bring years of musical experience, as well as leading, serving and playing with much passion.
