Welcome back to the Covenant Group Blog. As we prepare our hearts, souls and minds for the Holy season of Advent, I am drawn to the imagery of the Pilgrim. For some reason, thoughts of travelling are filling my mind these days. How do we get where we are going? Which GPS do you use? Global Positioning Satellite or God-Provided Spirit?
It is time to get our bearings, to center our hearts on Christ. For three Sundays in Advent, we will look at some New Testament Pilgrims: The Wise Men (Hope), The Shepherds (Love) and Simeon and Anna (Joy). As we enter 2018, we will explore the world of Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan. This is a Christian Classic written in the 1600's. I recommend picking up a copy to read as we explore this world. So, I invite you to join me on this journey of spiritual exploration.

Our culture has distorted what peace really is. How do we get back to a true sense of peace?

Pure, unadulterated joy is not found in a candy bar. Joy is not found in a dish soap. No, joy is knowing God through the Holy Spirit and being fully aware of the presence of His Salvation: Jesus Christ.

How do the shepherds of Bethlehem show us what love is? For that matter, what is love? We know what Paul has taught us in his first letter to the Corinthians. What do you say love is?

As we look forward to the season of Advent, we will reflect on some pilgrimages made in the account of Christ's birth. This week, we start with the Magi.
